About Phil Kenney

I have been teaching and practicing psychotherapy for well over 30 years. In that time, I have studied many disciplines within the field, including trauma theory, psychodynamic and family systems theory and mindfulness techniques that facilitate emotional regulation. These methods allow me to work with the following types of distress:

  • Grief and depression
  • Anxiety and PTSD
  • Self worth and negative self talk
  • Emotional flooding and detachment

What I have learned and experienced in three decades of work and study has been integrated into a way of working that is uniquely my own and specifically fitted to you and your needs. It is very important to me that you not be put into a formulaic system. Although I have ideas about what works best, I will work with you to find how you feel best supported to grow in the ways you wish.

A significant part of my experience involves meditation. Through my studies of various traditions from around the world, I find that establishing a regular meditation practice enhances the process of therapy. I delight in helping people find the approach that fits best and facilitates movement towards a greater feeling of aliveness.
